12th October 2017

Our Cadette Volleyball team were out again last week where they faced Drumshanbo Vocational School and Scoil Mhuire Strokestown. The team travelled to the Leitrim School on Wednesday in the hopes of being triumphant and coming out on top.

Firstly, the girls played Drumshanbo's first team where they got off to an exceptional start, beating them 25-16 and 25-06. The girls' improvement in their ability and teamwork, even since returning since September, was excellent as their support play, digging and spiking was executed brilliantly. It was a wonderful display of volleyball skills and as the girls met Drumshanbo's second team, their great performance continued. In the end, the girls were victorious on a scoreline of 25-11, 25-16.

The girls’ final game was against Scoil Mhuire Strokestown and it was here that the girls faced their toughest battle of the day. Strokestown was a very disciplined and skilled team and despite our girls best efforts they lost the first game on a very tight scoreline of 21-25. While Strokestown continued to push on, our girls soon found themselves behind in the second game, 12-20. It was at this point that our girls showed their true determination as they continued to fight for every point and work together.  The girls soon found themselves within two points of the Strokestown ladies, 22-24, but unfortunately for RCC, it wasn't to be their day and Strokestown scarped the victory by just three points, 25-22.

Very well done to all players who performed so well on the day. They will now face Roscommon's Meánscoil Mhuire gan Smál's three teams on the 25th of Wednesday where only the two top teams on the day will progress to the next round. The very best of luck ladies.
