On October 26th the Roscommon Community College girls played neighbours Coláiste Mhuire, Ballygar. Nerves showed in RCC’s beginning and Colaiste Mhuire got off to the better start and settled into the game well.  It was evident that RCC’s U14 team, composed of mostly first years, struggled with the physique and strength of the Ballygar side from the offset. However, this did not deter their determination and fight for every ball. Katelyn Lynch made some great saves in goals under immense pressure.  All of the backs defended well throughout in particular Eimear O’ Connor, Sienna Snow and Mia Kilcline. The second half showed a great improvement in play from the RCC side with a noticeable increase in work rate. More efficient passing and tighter marking led to some impressive well-earned scores from Grace Dwyer, Heather O’ Sullivan, Sienna Snow and Chloe McNamara. However, Ballygar proving that bit too strong built on their lead and ran out eventual winners of the match. The girls showed great character, never gave up and learnt a lot from the game gaining invaluable experience which will certainly stand to them in the future. Best of luck in the next match girls!
