                                                       Roscommon CC        6-15                 St. Colman’s Claremorris    0-07

Our RCC Senior Boys Hurling team put in a great performance against St. Colman’s Claremorris this past Tuesday to begin their Connacht Championship with a convincing win. Starting from Midfield with Liam Naughten and Dan McCormack winning the throw in, RCC got into gear quickly with a lovely point from Conor Morris.

Pairc Coláiste Pobail Ros Comáin was in great condition and this allowed our lads to thrive. Some clinical finishing allowed  RCC to storm into an early lead, racking up score after score by Conor Morris and Brian Killian with no reply from Claremorris. With the play settling down, Claremorris began to find their rhythm and added some brilliant scores to their tally. The RCC lads began to turn the tables with a great goal finished to the back of the net by Conor Morris. As Claremorris were eager for a goal, the sheer grit and determination from Tommy Morris, Aaron Flaherty and James Gannon kept them out from adding scores to their tally.  A wonderful point by Liam Naughten finished off the attacking move leaving the RCC lads leading half time score 2-7 to 3 points.

The second half continued in much the same vein as the first half. Claremorris continued to add a few more points to their tally but the RCC lads had a brilliant response by scoring a sucker of a goal from Thomas King. Whenever St. Colman’s looked to be getting a foothold in the game, RCC would strike for a goal and blunt all their momentum. Overall, an outstanding performance from the lads leaving the full-time score 6-15 to 7 points.
