Five RCC students were present at the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe this past weekend as they represented Roscommon at the INDO All-Ireland Championship.
First-year students Jayden Treacy, Keelan Fallon, Glen Hughes and Simon Moran all made their debuts at the event, while 5th Year student Eoin O’Brien was one of the more experienced players competing.
Roscommon fielded three teams at the event, with RCC students on each team. All three teams qualified for the Shield event following the round-robin section.
As luck would have it, Roscommon 2 drew Roscommon 3 in the first round of the Shield. Roscommon 2 took the win before securing another victory over Louth. A loss to Wicklow in Round 3 ended the team’s hopes.
Meanwhile, Eoin O’Brien played a key role for Roscommon 1, with the team recording wins over Clare, Cork, Limerick and Wicklow to reach the final against Kilkenny. Despite their best efforts, Kilkenny ran out winners on the day.
