On Monday the 22nd of April our Girls Senior Soccer team travelled to Athlone Town Stadium to take on the Mercy Kilbeggan in a West Leinster Final. This was the first time a senior girls’ team had ever got to a final and they were aiming to be the first girls’ team to ever win a girls soccer trophy in the school’s history. The girls gave it their all and dominated the first half of the game but didn’t take their chances. With the game looking like it was going to extra time disaster struck for RCC when Kilbeggan took the lead with only ten minutes of the game remaining. Unfortunately, Kilbeggan extended their lead as RCC went in the search for an equaliser and ran out 4 nil winners in the end. Hard luck to the girls who have given everything this year in training and matches but they did themselves and the school proud. A special mention also to the 6th year students Heather O’Sullivan and Lyndsey Gibbons who played their last game for the school. Finally, thank you to Ms Carolan and Ms Farrell for training and looking after the team this year.
