Roscommon Community College students have enjoyed a stellar rugby season, bringing home an array of titles in several age categories while representing Creggs RFC, Buccaneers RFC, and Monivea/Creggs teams.
There was double delight for both the U14 and U18 girls’ teams, who completed a historic League and Cup double this season. Among them, 1st year student Leah Connolly led the U14
team to victory as joint captain, capping off a strong season with triumphs in the Connacht League and Cup finals.
Senior students Ena Dupanovic and Joelah Okambawa played pivotal roles on the U18 girls’ team, where their experience and determination helped secure a well-earned win in both their respective Connacht League and Cup Finals.
Meanwhile, on Easter Sunday, senior student Josh McCormack captained the Buccaneers RFC U18.5 team to a thrilling victory over Corinthians in the Connacht Cup Final, showcasing exceptional leadership and composure on a big stage.
Success continued in the U18.5 Connacht Bowl Final, where Oisin Mullen and Jamie Lohan impressed for the Monivea/Creggs side, celebrating a hard-fought win in another exciting fixture.
On Easter Monday, the U16 team, featuring Luke Hayes, Seán Richardson and Oisín Connolly, showcased excellent pace and teamwork to defeat Ballinasloe in the U16 Bowl Final, with each player making a significant impact in the victory.
At the U15 level, Creggs RFC powered to a win in the Connacht Plate Final in a fiercely contested match. Jack Lally, Ryan Halligan, Tom Óg Reddington and Daniel Connolly were instrumental, with Ryan Halligan clinching the game-winning try in the final play — a dramatic end to a memorable encounter.
While not all finals ended in silverware, Claire Featherston played an important role for the U16 Creggs RFC girls’ team, who put in a spirited performance in the Plate Final against a strong Tuam/Oughterard side.
