Our students enjoy a trip every second year to a European destination. They are afforded the opportunity to experience foreign travel and culture and educational activities under supervision. the experience allows students to see sights outside of Ireland whilst enjoying social time with their fellow students and building lifelong friendships. More recently our students have travelled to Vietnam, France, Germany, London and Italy. Travelling on the school tour has excellent educational benefit to students while also allowing them to become more mature, responsible young adults who are equipped with the skills necessary to become more independent.

School Tours 2016 / 2017

This school year there are two school tour taking place from Roscommon Community College. The first of these tours will see senior students travel to The Netherlands in February. The trip will give students the opportunity to visit a number of places including the Valkenburg area and the Noordwijk area with trips to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and other cities. Some of the activities that students will do while in the Netherlands are a trip to Anne Frank’s house, the Choco-Story Museum, Camp Vught National Memorial and a relaxing Canal Boat Trip. In the latter part of the tour students will visit the Ajax territory and enjoy a full day in the Eftling Theme Park. The trip will be both educational and enjoyable and students are really looking forward to the experience.

While students around the country are looking forward to the Easter holidays next April a group of our second year students will be eagerly anticipating their trip to Northern Italy.  This group of students will spend their tour in places such as Lake Garda, Venice and Verona to name a few. Many of our second year students are studying ‘The Merchant of Venice’ by William Shakespeare and are very much looking forward to seeing the exact location of where the play is set and putting into context for their studies.

One of the highlights of the trip is always the day spent in Gardaland Theme Park where students will spend the day enjoying the exhilarating roller coasters with their friends. The tour will also include visits to Juliet’s Balcony and the Colosseum in Verona along with many other educational and enjoyable experiences.
