The Great RCC TY Bake Off, organised by Home Economics teacher Ms Mannion, allowed TY students to showcase their baking abilities and creativity, which the eight finalists didn’t fail to demonstrate.
After the first round of elimination where the students were challenged to bake buttercream/fondant cupcakes it was evident how high the standard was as demonstrated by all participants. Getting to the final was not going to be a walk in the park. The talented list of finalists included Orla Norris, Liam Naughten, Luke Hanley, Maria Viana, Klarah Borges, Jack Campbell, Oisín Hynes and Cian Escosio.
After weeks of preparation the remaining bakers were set the challenge to produce a themed buttercream/fondant cake which tested every aspect of their baking abilities.
Each unique cake was presented to the judges who had the difficult task of choosing the overall winner. After a difficult decision the overall winners were finally announced. Congratulations to Klara Borges who was the The Great Roscommon Community College Bake Off Winner 2023. Congratulations also to Orla Norris (2nd place) and Jack Campbell (3rd place). Well done to all the other participants, you did yourselves proud with your wonderful creations.
