Roscommon Community College places the wellbeing of its staff and students at the very core of it values.
“Wellbeing is present when a person realises their potential, is resilient in dealing with the normal stresses of their life, takes care of their physical wellbeing and has a sense of purpose, connection and belonging to a wider community. It is a fluid way of being and needs nurturing throughout life”
The World Health Organisation (2001)
A whole school approach to wellbeing is advocated in Roscommon Community College and the Continuum Support Model is used to provide support to students. This model offers a flexible framework within which schools can address all educational needs, including wellbeing needs. Student support and wellbeing is promoted and fostered in several ways:
- Tutor system whereby students meet their tutors every morning, Monday – Thursday
- Year Head Team, with Academic Monitors
- Career Guidance Team
- Student Support Team
- School Self-Evaluation, as per circular 56/2022
- Relationships with Parents
- Links with External Agencies
- Wellbeing Curriculum
- Extra-Curricular Activities
- One Good School Initiative
- Our Mission and Ethos
