Roscommon Community College’s Start the Day on the Right Note has become a highlight of the school week, providing students with a platform to showcase their musical talents and prepare for State Music Practical Exams. This Friday morning series features a mix of instrumental, vocal, and collaborative performances, celebrating the creativity and dedication of RCC music students.

The series began with Leaving Cert students delivering standout performances, including Conor Pearce’s Grade 7 piano piece, Sonatina by Clementi, and powerful vocal renditions by Vitoria Oliveiro Morais (Stand Up) and Joyce Fwamba (All I Could Do Was Cry).

Next, the 5th Year Girls impressed with a vibrant variety of performances. Highlights included Áine Madden’s guitar instrumental of The Rocky Road to Dublin, Sophie Naughton’s Salvatore by Lana Del Rey, and Libby Chan’s nostalgic Hopelessly Devoted to You. Erika Ogawa and Yuliia Soima added further depth with their compelling solo pieces.

The 6th Year Boys brought energy with traditional and contemporary pieces. Nathan Mac an Bháird showcased his tin whistle skills with Blind Mary and lively hornpipes, while Jack Campbell’s guitar and vocal performances of Brazil and Sailor Song captivated the audience.

The term concluded with 5th Year collaborations, including Erika Ogawa’s elegant From the Start and a heartfelt duet of Talking to the Moon by Grace Kauffman Marques (piano) and Libby Chan (vocals).

This inspiring series has become a cherished tradition at RCC, with more performances eagerly anticipated in the new year.
