Roscommon CC        4-12                                         Garbally College       5-05

It didn’t take long for the RCC lads to get off the mark as Luke Shally, with an incredibly rare shot off his left foot into the far corner, retrieved their first goal.  Garbally, however, responded quickly with a goal of their own into the right corner giving Nathan Flynn no chance in the RCC goal.

10 minutes in, Cormac Naughton came storming through the middle and hand passed  to Lewis Smyth for a tidy hand pass finish. Garbally couldn’t respond as, even though they had plenty of possession, they had a lot of shots dropping into Nathan Flynn’s hands. From one of these turnovers, RCC exploited the space in the middle with Mark Shally running through receiving the offload from Lewis Smyth and Shally placing it in the left corner.

Kickouts weren’t working out for either side with them predominately coming out the school side, the wind proving to be a nuisance for the keepers. To end the half, Mark Shally scored yet another beautiful goal by sending, not one, but two Garbally defenders all the way back to Ballinasloe. Coming into half time RCC were on top with a score of 4-4 to 2-2.

Inside the first 10 mins of the second half possession was maintained very well by RCC also conceding very little. The points were ticking over with the main provider being Luke Shally. Despite this, Garbally started to creep back scoring 3 goals in the space of 20 mins. Whilst this was a worry for our RCC lads luckily enough there was little time left for Garbally to come back with the final score being 4-12 to 5-5 to RCC.
