Transition Year drama students have won a place in the finals of the highly contested Transition Year All-Ireland Drama Festival 2023. The preliminary rounds were held in Mullingar Arts Centre, whereby our successful cast performed the renowned trial scene from William Shakespeare’s play ‘The Merchant of Venice.’
Further preparations and rehearsals are underway in a bid to polish their performance in anticipation of the upcoming finals to be held in The Everyman Theatre, Cork. Participation in drama encourages students to develop an appreciation for the performing arts while promoting wellbeing and self-expression. We would like to commend the effort and commitment of our TY cast for immersing themselves in the world of Shakespeare and helping promote the essence of drama and theatre in our school. Best wishes are extended to all involved, including their teachers Ms Doyle and Ms Cleary, and as they say in the world of theatre: ‘Break a leg!’
