On Tuesday last, 19 first year boys made their first appearance representing Roscommon Community College when they travelled to the Dome in Bekan for the Roscommon GAA 1st Year Football blitz. They joined teams from all around Roscommon in what was a wonderful day organised by Roscommon GAA GDOs.
RCC fielded two teams overall which meant everyone received plenty of football. Both teams played four games each and were highly competitive through each game. RCC played against teams from Scoil Mhuire Strokestown, Abbey College Boyle, Athlone Community College, Castlerea Community School and Colaiste Chiaráin Athlone. This was a great day out for our young first years and they can now look forward to playing games in the Roscommon Championship over the coming months in addition to the Connacht Championships in the new year. The coaches would like to thank Roscommon GAA for organising such a wonderful event in bringing 1st year footballers across the county together, promoting teamwork, strategy and sportsmanship.
