On Thursday 9th May the 5th year Biology classes travelled to Mountbellew Woods to carry out their Ecology Habitat study. The facilitators for the day were Dr Michel Dugon from University of Galway along with two of his PHD researchers- Keith and Micheal.
The students studied the plants, animals, biotic and abiotic factors that make up the woodland habitat. The students basked in the sunshine as they carried out their research and took down results.
In the afternoon the students returned to RCC with the facilitators to analyse their results. The students also got to get up close and hold a Corn snake from the United States, a tarantula and ‘Leo’ the Gecko. A great day out for all involved and thank you to the facilitators for such a brilliant day.
