RCC   4-13                                         CCS    0-06

Our RCC Junior Boys displayed exceptional teamwork in their first school match against Castlerea CS as they began their campaign to defend their Connacht Junior title from last year.

The match got off to a good start when our midfielders won the throw up, followed by an outstanding point by Kian Mulligan which set the tone for the rest of the match. Our lads were very motivated in the first half, scoring point after point thanks to Liam Naughton and the strong forward line. These boys exhibited their remarkable skill coming into halftime by winning kickouts and sticking balls in the back of the net. RCC closed the first half with some exceptional scores leaving RCC on top.

The RCC team came out strong in the second half but with Castlerea motivated to put up a challenge we could see a clear shift in gameplay as RCC became more defensive.  Oisín Kelly made some excellent blocks which led to brilliant scores from Evan McNeill and a super goal from Liam Naughton. In the end, RCC proved the stronger side with a final score line of 4-13 to 6.

This team displayed great determination and we are looking forward to our next match against Archbishop McHale College in Tuam. Well done lads!
