On November 22, the Dublin Castle Printworks hosted the National Forum on Educational Sustainable Development, a pivotal event that brought together stakeholders to discuss sustainability education under the ESD 2030 framework. Keynote speakers included David Donoghue, a former Irish representative, Professor Laura Lundy, an advocate for youth participation in policymaking, and Beth Doherty, a climate youth activist chosen by the ESD Youth Advisory Group. The forum provided a platform for attendees to explore intergenerational perspectives on climate issues and education.
Zoe White, a youth representative from Roscommon Community College, played a central role in the event. She introduced Professor Lundy, represented the ESD Youth Advisory Group, and shared insights on the group’s purpose and the importance of youth involvement. Zoe also participated in a workshop focused on generational differences in climate perspectives, emphasizing the value of understanding diverse viewpoints. A concluding panel discussion brought younger and older generations together to identify shared concerns about the environment. Zoe described the forum as an inspiring experience and expressed enthusiasm for future opportunities to contribute to sustainable development initiatives. RCC takes great pride in Zoe’s outstanding public speaking and participation in such a prestigious event.
