A Perfect Day of Art
On a sunny Thursday morning, our Leaving Certificate students recently embarked on an artistic adventure to sample the local delights of the Luan Gallery, Athlone. The limestone reflection of the gallery’s façade greeted the students as they eagerly waited to view an exhibition named ‘Tuberclerosies’ by Kevin Mooney, a Cork based artist.
Students were immersed in the riches of various forms of art, incorporating sculpture, painting, mixed media and with a guided tour of the gallery’s history, our students were taught how the artist’s work is curated together.
This inspirational experience allowed our finest artists at Roscommon Community College to develop their understanding of art in the wider world and help them engage with their upcoming studies in the Leaving Certificate art curriculum.
