On Wednesday 18th September, teams from Ballygar, Ballyhaunis and Boyle descended on sunny Lisnamult to take part in a 1st and 2nd year Camogie blitz.

This was a great way to start the sporting year and even gave some girls their first taste of playing Camogie. In both the first and second year section, teams played three games, and the top two teams met in a competitive final.

First years from Colaiste Mhuire, Ballygar proved too strong for Ballyhaunis Community School while the second years from Ballyhaunis narrowly beat Roscommon Community College in a thrilling game. Both winning teams were presented with medals following their success on the pitch.

A huge thank you to all the schools for their participation. There was admirable talent and skill on display and most importantly, it was great to see the friendship and fun between the students from different schools.

A big thank you is extended to the Transition Year students from Abbey Community College, Boyle and RCC who took charge of refereeing games, lining pitches, serving tea, taking photographs, providing music and every other job that was fulfilled. Patricia and Marina in RCC organised snacks and drinks for each player and this was very much appreciated.

Finally, to Roscommon Gales GAA, thank you for the use of the excellent facilities for the day. We are looking forward to next year already!
