Well done to our Junior Boys Gaelic Footballers, who kicked off their Connacht Junior C Championship on Monday 7th October with a fine 6-10 to 5-9 win over Garbally College.

Despite a slow start going 3 points to nothing down in the opening ten minutes, RCC responded brilliantly with a well taken goal from Dan Monaghan. The goal settled the team, and further points from Marc Shally and Jack Lally meant RCC went in at half time with a one-point lead.

The first ten minutes of the 2nd half saw RCC go through their purple patch in the game. Excellent defending from Eli Okambawa, Pierce Fannon and David Glancy helped keep Garbally at bay, while the pace of Luke Hayes and Rory Connolly in the middle third caused Garbally huge headaches. Further goals from Marc Shally and Jack Lally gave RCC a large lead going into the closing period of the game. However, Garbally were allowed back into the game in the last ten minutes of the game, scoring several goals to bring the lead back to four at the final whistle. This is something that RCC will need to work on when they play HRC Mountbellew in the next round hoping to book a place in the Connacht Quarter final.
