Leaving Cert Students Gain Fresh Insights into the play ‘King Lear’

Leaving Cert English students recently attended a dynamic production of William Shakespeare’s King Lear produced by the Gaiety School of Acting at the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone. This tragic play, renowned for its exploration of human nature, power, and family relationships, was brought to life with a modern twist in staging and costume design, making it particularly engaging for a young audience. The director used a minimalist set, allowing students to focus intensely on the characters’ emotional journeys and Shakespeare’s language.
