Maths Week at RCC was a vibrant celebration of problem-solving, teamwork, and real-world connections as students engaged in various numeracy-focused activities designed to build both skills and enthusiasm. The week kicked off with exciting Maths Hunts, where students raced to solve clues, fostering critical thinking and collaboration. Puzzle stations and group activities were set up in classrooms, challenging students to apply their understanding of Maths concepts and apply them to real-world scenarios.

1st year students participated in a Maths Olympiad, where students put their mathematical skills to the test in this national competition. Meanwhile, Maths Week TV sessions for Transition and 5th year classes brought fresh perspectives on the importance of maths in global issues. Students learned about the role of mathematics in tackling climate change and analysed the hidden maths found in episodes of The Simpsons, discovering how maths concepts are woven into the storylines of this popular show.

Transition Year students, assisted by Maths teachers, visited St. Coman’s Wood Primary School to lead interactive Maths workshops and share their enthusiasm for maths with the primary school pupils. The workshops were a huge success, with smiles and laughter throughout the morning.

RCC’s Maths Week proved to be a fun-filled and inspiring experience that connected students with the influence of Maths on the world around them.
