RCC 1-6         Scoil Mhuire Strokestown 3-12

The eager RCC Senior Boys put up a great battle against Scoil Mhuire Strokestown in their second game of the Roscommon Schools’ Senior A championship. Ryan Dowling kicked off this exciting match by scoring an outstanding point. In the first half, the boys fought very hard, from great defence by Joshua Lemos, Aaron Flaherty and lzidro Ribas to brilliant scores from Kian Mulligan, Tommy Morris and Ryan Dowling. The RCC lads kept possession in the first half thanks to Conor Morris along with his brother Tommy Morris winning some great breaks around the middle of the field. However, Strokestown struck for two goals, including one from the penalty spot, which left the half time score of 2-4 to 6 points in favour of Strokestown. Only for a superb save from Evan Donnelly from another penalty, this could have been worse and would not have been a fair reflection of the first half play.

Playing with the elements in the second half, Strokestown came out very strongly and kicked a few quick points to extend their half time lead. Despite some great defending, Strokestown struck for another goal to keep the pressure on. RCC hit back in style with a Kian Mulligan penalty in the left-hand corner. Despite the great efforts from our senior team in the end Strokestown secured victory on a score line of 3-12 to 1-6.
