RCC celebrated standup week with numerous activities taking place across the week. On Monday it was ‘Moving Masterpiece Monday’ as Ms Gibbons and the Art department had been working on Ally themed art for display in local shops and premises. Members of the RCC LGBTQI+ Allies group were on the move on Monday to distribute them. We were very grateful to all the local businesses that supported this initiative. On Tuesday it was ‘Tuesday Treats’ with members of the LGBTQI+ group delivering treats to classes at various different times throughout the day. On Wednesday it was ‘Welcoming Wednesday’ where subject departments highlighted the work of a member of the LGBTQI+ community in their subject area in class on such as Dr Kathleen Lynn in History. On Thursday it was ‘Together is better Thursday’ were we had the pleasure of having Garda Sgt Ronan O’ Meara for Diversity and Inclusion in the school to give a talk regarding anti-homophobic legislation and who also brought the Garda Diversity vehicle on site for students to enjoy. Lastly on Friday it was ‘Friday Pride Day’ were students and staff wore their pride colours. First Years wore red, second years orange, third years yellow, transition years green, fifth years blue and sixth years purple. A big thank you to Ms Ward, the RCC LGBTQ+ Allies group and all the students and staff that made it such a great week.
